"Bluff...where your stay should be extended."
Desert mesas, foothill forests and intimate, hidden canyons surround Bluff. The thousands of archaeological sites that pepper the entire area of the Four Corners add a challenging intellectual aspect to this dramatic part of the Southwest that still conjures images of the old Wild West. The jewel of it all, the great Navajo Reservation, lies just south across the San Juan River from Bluff and runs further south into Arizona. With a current population of about 300, Bluff residents offer the visitor a choice of restaurants and some outstanding trading posts and art galleries. Several wilderness guides/outfitters make Bluff the jump-off point for raft or kayak adventures down the San Juan River or deep into the backcountry in 4WD vehicles and/or on foot--with llamas as pack animals, if desired.
